Children’s Dentist: your questions answered
When should my child first see a dentist?
When their first teeth appear, or by their first birthday. Early visits help them get used to the dentist.
How much is a child’s check-up?
£25 for under-12s and £35 for 12 to 18-year-olds, not including X-rays. Under-12s are free when a parent joins our Healthy Mouth Plan.
What are fissure sealants?
A thin protective coating on the biting surfaces of back teeth that helps prevent decay. They cost £50.
Can my child see an orthodontist?
Ask about an orthodontic assessment with our registered specialist orthodontist, Dr Joe McGill.
Is there help with costs?
Yes. When a parent or guardian joins our Healthy Mouth Plan, children under 12 get free check-ups and 10% off most treatment. We also offer the Jersey Dental Fitness Scheme for 11 to 21-year-olds in full-time education.
