Repairing teeth the conservative way

A filling replaces the part of a tooth lost to decay or damage. We aim to keep as much healthy tooth as possible.

Decay and cavities

If decay is found at your check-up or on an X-ray, a filling stops it spreading and seals the tooth.

Chips and old fillings

Chipped edges, worn teeth and old fillings that have broken or leak can be repaired with tooth-coloured composite.

When a filling isn’t enough

If too much tooth is missing, a same-day CEREC onlay or crown protects what’s left. An onlay covers only the weak part of the tooth.

What happens

Your filling, step by step

1

Check

We examine the tooth and take an X-ray if needed to see how deep the decay goes.

2

Numb

Local anaesthetic keeps you comfortable. If you’re nervous, tell us and we’ll go at your pace.

3

Repair

We remove the decay and rebuild the tooth in layers of composite, shaded to match, setting each layer with a light.

4

Polish

We shape and polish the filling and check your bite so it feels natural.

FAQs

Fillings: your questions answered

How much is a filling in Jersey?

At Confidence Dental, a white (composite) filling for an adult starts at £235. Children’s white fillings start at £95. The final price depends on the size of the filling, and you’ll have a written estimate first.

Do you do white fillings?

Yes. We use tooth-coloured composite, shaded to match your teeth, so fillings blend in.

Does having a filling hurt?

We numb the tooth with local anaesthetic first, so most people feel pressure rather than pain. If you’re anxious, tell us. We go at your pace, and IV sedation is available for very nervous patients.

How long does a filling take?

Most fillings are done in a single appointment. The time depends on how many teeth need treatment and how large the fillings are.

Can you replace my old silver fillings?

If an old filling is broken, leaking or has decay underneath, we can replace it with a tooth-coloured one. If it’s sound, we’ll tell you, because replacing a filling also removes some healthy tooth.

What if the hole is too big for a filling?

We may suggest an onlay or crown, made and fitted the same day with CEREC, from £895. If decay has reached the nerve, root canal treatment (from £550) can save the tooth.

How long do white fillings last?

It depends on the size of the filling, where it is in your mouth and how well the tooth is cared for. We check your fillings at every check-up, so small problems are caught early.

Can I use my insurance or Pension Plus?

Yes. You pay on the day and we give you an itemised receipt to claim from your insurer. Eligible pensioners can use Pension Plus towards treatment.
